Wednesday, August 2nd marks the eighth annual Professional Engineers Day. Licensure for Professional Engineers became about in much the same way as medical and law licensure: to give the public assurance that those engaged in professional activities are competent and well skilled to do so.
Professional Engineers spend years in school to obtain a degree. Then they spend several more years working in their field and gaining knowledge and experience before they can apply to sit for the PE exam. This level of dedication and focus makes the profession an elite group who are experts in their respective fields. This is one of the many reasons why HTW celebrates Professional Engineers Day with others all around the world!
